The process of decorating my apartment is a slow one. I want every part of it to be special. I want to have a positive connection to the items I own, and not own too much of them. So I want to put some effort into the decoration I put up, without spending much money on it.

When I saw the family tree on All Things Paper, I knew I wanted to make something similar myself. As in the original project, I used toilet paper rolls for the leaves and cardboard for the branches, but I also used cardboard instead of photo frames. I made mine purple (because purple is awesome), with some black shadows and golden highlights. Finding the right pictures is still work-in-progress :-)

As someone who is… more than just a little bit visually stunted and not at all able to put together crafty DIY solutions to make something beautiful, I am constantly in awe of the things you make. I love it that you are chronicling your drive to make everything in your home decorating so personal and showing readers how you’re doing it. It’s lovely!

Thanks! You do a lot of awesome cookie crafting, I’d say! :-) See, when I started this (and other) blogs, I didn’t think I had anything interesting to say, anything new to contribute. But then I just started writing about random stuff, and it turns out that some people are interested in that. We do tend to underestimate ourselves, you know ;-)
